Silvia Montaña-Niño is a Lecturer in Journalism at the School of Communication and Culture, University of Melbourne. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society between 2021-2023. Her research focuses on the impact of technology on journalism. During her doctoral studies, she analyzed the editorial dynamics in newsrooms with the institutionalization of digital metrics systems and platform algorithms. Currently, her research revolves around how news outlets and fact checkers are adapting to the use of artificial intelligence and automation techniques in their daily practices.
