As a member of the IPIE Secretariat, Mr. Young supports the IPIE’s scientific committees and leadership team in their work developing research and advancing organizational priorities. Prior to joining the IPIE, Alex was the Manager of Operational Excellence at PeaceTech Lab, an organization that worked to reduce violent conflict using technology, media, and data. At the Lab, Alex oversaw program effectiveness and managed its countering hate speech programs. Alex's career has focused primarily on work related to mitigating violent conflict in East and West Africa. He has held positions with international research institutions and humanitarian aid organizations, the U.S. Government’s national security community, and local NGOs in Kenya. Alex studied international relations and Swahili at American University in Washington D.C.
