Aengus Bridgman is a political scientist and data scientist whose research bridges the social sciences and computational methods to understand political behavior, public opinion, and the impacts of digital media. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at McGill University and the Director of the Media Ecosystem Observatory, a research initiative that monitors and analyzes the flow of political information across traditional and digital platforms.Dr. Bridman’s scholarship focuses on the intersections of technology, politics, and society, with particular attention to misinformation, online political discourse, and the democratic implications of emerging communication technologies. His work combines large-scale data analysis, machine learning, and experimental methods, and has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals.He is an active collaborator across disciplines, working with computer scientists, statisticians, and communication scholars to develop innovative approaches to studying complex political phenomena. His research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and other national and international funding bodies, and has informed public policy discussions in Canada and beyond. Aengus is committed to public engagement, regularly sharing insights with journalists, policymakers, and civil society organizations to foster evidence-based debate on pressing democratic challenges.
