Brett Aho received his PhD in Global Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara, specializing in the political economy of artificial intelligence and data technologies. His research centers around the rise of data as a new economic input, and focuses on the construction of regulatory and governance architectures in the US, the EU and China. Much of his research is informed by his previous career as a B2B journalist, where he regularly published analysis on the socio-legal legal structures of risk regulation. Brett has previously earned degrees from the University of Redlands, the University of Leipzig (Germany), and Roskilde University (Denmark).
