Dr. Gopolang Ditlhokwa is a lecturer in the Department of Media Studies, University of Botswana. He holds a Ph.D. from the Communication University of China. Prior to that, he earned an MFA (Film and Television) from the same university. With a research focus on platform dependencies and creative industries, Dr. Ditlhokwa explores the intersections of technology, media, and communication in the digital era. He has published research on Big Tech, constructive journalism, and health communication and has presented workshops on misinformation, disinformation, fake news, and data journalism at high-level engagements, including invitations from UNESCO and other prominent organisations such as the Botswana Communication Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). In the classroom, Dr. Ditlhokwa teaches courses in communication, broadcasting, and digital media, equipping students with critical perspectives on media practices and their societal implications. With a growing interest in the ways that misinformation and platform algorithms define public discourse, Dr. Ditlhokwa seeks to contribute to policy-relevant research that can inform global discussions on these issues.
