Lara Greaves (Ngāpuhi, Pākehā, Tararā) is an award-winning political scientist and researcher with expertise spanning democracy, electoral systems, Māori data sovereignty and Indigenous politics. Her current work focuses on democratic participation, intersectionality, and Māori political representation, carried out through dual appointments as Associate Professor in Politics at Victoria University of Wellington and Senior Research Fellow in Statistics at the University of Auckland. She is a Royal Society of New Zealand Rutherford Discovery Fellow (2024-2029), investigating improvements to democracy and participation in New Zealand with particular focus on Māori. Her work also includes Indigenous data sovereignty, Lara is actively involved in the organising committee of Te Mana Raraunga, the Māori data sovereignty network.
