Lisa M. Given, PhD, FASSA, is Director, Social Change Enabling Impact Platform, and Professor of Information Sciences at RMIT University. A Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, Prof Given's interdisciplinary research in human information behaviour brings a critical, social research lens to studies of information seeking, technology use, and research practice. Her studies embed social change, focusing on social media, human-focused design, and interdisciplinary methodological innovations. A former President of the Association for Information Science and Technology, Prof Given has served on the Australian Research Council's College of Experts and the Council of Canadian Academies' Expert Panel on Research Integrity. Her research is funded by the Australian Research Council, Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Her award-winning innovations in information science and research practice have led to her being among the top 2% of researchers, globally. In 2021, she received her discipline's highest honour for Outstanding Contributions to Information Behaviour Research. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Review of Information Science and Technology, lead author of Looking for Information: Examining Research on How People Engage with Information (2023), and Editor of The Sage Encyclopedia of Qualitative Research Methods (2008).
