Marina Tulin is an Assistant Professor of Education, Citizenship and Democracy in a Digital World at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research at the University of Amsterdam. Her research interests include mis- and disinformation, fact-checking, media literacy as well as public trust in knowledge institutions like journalism and science. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the vulnerability and resilience of citizens in light of various threats of political mis- and disinformation.In 2022 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher on disinformation and fact-checking as part of the Dutch-Flemish hub of the European Digital Media Observatory (BENEDMO), which brings together academic researchers, journalists and fact-checkers. She continues to be affiliated with the European Digital Media Observatory since.From 2020 to 2022, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher and project coordination manager in the Department of Media and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) as part of the Horizon 2020 project 'Trustworthy, Reliable, and Engaging Scientific Communication Approaches' (TRESCA). She was a visiting PhD scholar at Stanford University (2018), received her PhD in Sociology (2020) from the University of Amsterdam, a MSc in Social Psychology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (cum laude, 2015) and a BSc in Psychology from Tilburg University (cum laude, 2013).
