Consulting Scientist for Special Projects
Claudine Tinsman is a computer scientist whose research examines how people experience and respond to sociotechnical risks in AI and digital platforms. She is currently a postdoctoral research associate with the Work for AI Safety (WAIS) project at Queen Mary University London, a UK AI Security Institute–funded initiative investigating how workers can identify and respond to AI-related risks in the workplace. Her work uses participatory research with union leaders through the Trades Union Congress to co-develop workplace AI risk monitoring frameworks, integrating co-design methods and policy best practices into guidance for front-line AI oversight.
She completed her DPhil in Cyber Security at the University of Oxford, where she studied how users engage with platform moderation tools to support their wellbeing. During her doctoral research, she also spearheaded the development of the Digital Good Index with the Digital Good Network, a framework for evaluating whether digital technologies contribute to positive societal outcomes.
