Director of Policy and Public Affairs
Ollie is the Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE).
Ollie has served as a senior adviser and consultant to international organisations, large philanthropies and civil society organisations with a focus on technology, AI and public policy.
Ollie was previously the founding Executive Director of the Centre for Data Ethics & Innovation (CDEI), the world’s first government advisory body on AI governance. Before the CDEI, he held a number of senior policy roles in the UK government focused on technology, digital and data, including the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, where as Deputy Director for Technology Policy he was responsible a cross-government programme of work to develop the norms and rules for the online world. Ollie also served as head of policy for the Government Digital Service and led the UK’s world-leading Open Data programme from the Cabinet Office. He began his civil service career in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, serving under Prime Ministers David Cameron and Gordon Brown.
Ollie holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and served as a Policy Fellow with the Centre for Science and Policy at Cambridge University. He is based in London.
